December Event – YAF Year in Review

September Event – Parallel Careers Panel


When: Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 5:30pm

What: This year for our “Parallel Careers” discussion, we will be focusing on the world of Corporate Architects. Join us at DELV Design as we talk with our panel about what architecture-adjacent work looks like, how you create and innovate in similar fields, and how architecture helped set them up for success.

Food and drink will be provided, as always. See the diagram on Eventbrite to help you find DELV’s studio. You can even take the Red Line to join us!

April Event – College of Fellows Dinner


When: Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 5:30 PM

What: Join us for one of our favorite annual events; a dinner with The Fellows! This is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with Indiana’s finest members of the AIA College of Fellows. Join Young Architect’s Forum for food and drinks as we celebrate the best and brightest architects of the State. Please RSVP by April 11.

February Event – YAF Day at the Statehouse


When: Tuesday February 5, 2019 at 12:00-3:00pm

Where: Meet at the AIA Indiana office, 115 W. Washington St., Suite 955, Indianapolis, IN 46204

What: Join us for this unique opportunity to meet with your legislators and get a peek inside the workings of state government!

Help support your profession by attending an “YAF Day at the Statehouse.” This is a unique opportunity for you to learn firsthand about the key AIA state legislative and regulatory issues and become a lobbyist for a day. You will be able to directly impact the legislative process by meeting with your state legislators and discuss the issues important to architects.


12:00pm-1:00pm – Lunch provided at the AIA Indiana office. Attendees will be briefed on the issues facing Hoosier AIA members.

1:00pm-1:30pm – Statehouse tour.

1:30pm-3:00pm – Lobby your legislators (state representative and state senator.)

October Event – Transitions Panel

July Event – The Future of Retail


When: Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 5-7pm

Where: Indianapolis Artsgarden, 110 W Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46204

What: This month, we’re joining forces with People for Urban Progress & AIA Indianapolis for a special event about the Future of Retail. During this panel discussion, Catherine Esselman, Mike Gillis, and Nick Strause will explore the potential roles the Circle Centre Mall will play within Indianapolis and how its unique position within downtown Indianapolis offers distinct opportunities to address the connection between the fabric of downtown and the future of retail.

June Event – Building Tour Riverview Hospital Westfield


When: Tuesday June 26, 2018 at 4:30pm

Where: 17600 Shamrock Boulevard Westfield, IN 46074

What: Riverview Hospital Westfield is a 108,000-square-foot facility will have five inpatient beds, three surgery suites and a full-service emergency room in addition to urgent care. The building has a terracotta rainscreen system installed on the facade. The building is set to partially open in July, so we should be able to see mostly completed work with some floors still under construction.

Each person attending should wear hard-soled shoes, a safety vest, and a hard hat. There will be a few hard hats and vests on site, but we ask that you bring your own and any extra you might have for those who do not have them. The building is at the corner of US 31 and Main street in Westfield, IN.

May Event – Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program Info Session


When: Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at 5:30 pm

Where: Schmidt Associates – 415 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46204

What: Have you heard? AIA Indiana is starting a component of the Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program. This is a program developed by the AIA that helps train and nurture architecture’s next generation of leaders. This year-long program consists of a number of sessions attended by a competitively selected group of emerging professionals.

Are you:
– Eager to learn about architecture as a business and industry?
– Curious to develop new skills for your own business?
– Excited at the prospect of meeting and collaborating with other eager learners, driven professionals and budding leaders?

The CKLDP focuses on core professional skills, such as entrepreneurship and firm management, teamwork and collaboration, negotiation skills, client development, community leadership, understanding industry trends, and developing your future within the practice.  The selected scholars to CKLDP will plan and participate in each of the sessions.

Prospective participants must go through an application process for selection where proven career success, community involvement and the individual’s firm support will be considered.

Join YAF Indy for this informational session hosted by members of the CKLDP committee about the program and the application process.

April Event – Work-Work Balance

What: Juggling a lot of projects these days? We’re right there with you. This month we’re talking about productivity and personal project management at work. This will be a casual discussion lead by YAF on how to balance all of the items on your task list. For this event we will be heading to Ralston’s on Mass Ave and your FIRST BEER IS ON US!
